The 18th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) is around the corner and the fans are set to cheer for their favourite franchise in the upcoming season. In every season of the IPL, we see many records getting broken by star players from some of the big franchises. There are many star players who are likely to break some major records in the forthcoming season, IPL 2025. 1. Chris Gayle smashed 17 sixes in his iconic knock of 175 runs
Chris Gayle shattered several records when he smashed a record 175 runs off 66 balls while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (now Royal Challengers Bengaluru) in a match against Pune Warriors India at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 23, 2013. One record he broke was for the most sixes in an IPL innings by a batsman. Gayle smashed 17 sixes along with 13 fours during his knock.
2. Adam Gilchrist smashed 17-ball fifty as Deccan Chargers entered IPL 2009 final
Adam Gilchrist went on to play a captain’s knock and smashed a fifty off just 17 balls as Deccan Chargers defeated Delhi Daredevils to enter the final of the IPL 2009 in Centurion on May 22. Gilchrist scored 85 runs off just 35 balls as the Chargers won the match by four wickets and went on to win the IPL title that year.
3. KKR won third title in 17th IPL edition
The number 17 would be special for the fans of Kolkata Knight Riders as the franchise won its third title in the 17th edition of the IPL in 2024. Having won the title previously in 2012 and 2014, KKR finally got their hands on the title for the third time after 12 years and will be coming as the defending champions in IPL 2025.
