Australia received a major setback ahead of their ODI World Cup 2023 match against the reigning champions, England on November 4 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell suffered an injury in an accident. While the five-time ODI World Cup champions were recovering from the injury setback, they suffered another major blow as another key all-rounder is out of the World Cup indefinitely.

As a report published by Cricket.com.au on Wednesday, November 1, Glenn Maxwell fell down from the back of a golf cart, resulting in a concussion, and will miss the match against England. However, the Australian authorities informed that no one else suffered any injuries except Maxwell, who suffered some concussion and a few facial bruising.

On Thursday, Cricket.com.au reported that Mitchell Marsh flew home on Wednesday citing personal reasons, and it is unclear how long will the 32-year-old take to return to India for the World Cup. "A timeline on his return to the squad is to be confirmed," read a Cricket Australia release.

After losing their opening two matches, Australia returned to winning ways with their back-to-back victories in four matches. However, the loss of two key all-rounders Maxwell and Marsh is alarming for the Australian side. In their absence, all-rounder Marcus Stoinis is set to take up the baton for their match against England on Saturday.
