Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou and British heavyweight icon Anthony Joshua will reportedly square off in a boxing match on March 9, 2024. Joshua, who is coming off a win over Otto Walin will take on Ngannou, who made his way into boxing in recent history. The highly anticipated bout is going to be an exhibition match and will take place in Saudi Arabia.
As reported by MMA journalist, Ariel Helwani, the bout will take place on March 9 and will be contested across 10 rounds of boxing in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In a shocking move, Ngannou parted ways with MMA and switched to boxing in the early months of 2023. However, later the Cameroonian-French boxer signed a lucrative deal with the Professional Fighters League (PFL).
While the league allowed him to do so, the 37-year-old competed against boxing icon Tyson Fury in October 2023. Though Ngannou ended up on a losing note, he made a strong impression in his maiden outing by fighting with the heavyweight boxer in almost ten rounds. While the date is almost out, the official announcement is still awaited.
While Ngannou will be motivated to come back stronger after losing his maiden bout, Joshua will remain favourite over the former UFC icon. He will put in his best effort to win the match, and after doing so, he is expected to challenge the winner of the undisputed heavyweight title clash between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.
