Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has travelled back to India after being rested from the upcoming three-game ODI series against West Indies. The Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer flew back with the likes of R Ashwin, Ajinkya Rahane, KS Bharat and Navdeep Saini after India's triumphant performance in the Test series 1-0.

Siraj was lead the Indian pace attack in the Test series with a tally of seven wickets in the first two games and was expected to do the same in the ODIs as well. But with the Hyderabad native's departure, the Indian pace battery will include  Jaydev Unadkat, Shardul Thakur, Mukesh and Umran Malik with all-rounder Hardik Pandya.

As per reported by Cricinfo, the BCCI cited workload management as the reason behind resting Siraj from the ODI leg of the West Indies tour. The Men in Blue are yet to announce a replacement for him.

The development was later confirmed by BCCI, who released a statement saying,  " Mohd. Siraj has been released from Team India’s ODI squad ahead of the three-match series against the West Indies." 

" The right-arm pacer has a sore ankle and as a precautionary measure has been advised rest by the BCCI medical team.  The team has not called for a replacement player for the ODI series, which commences on July 27, 2023 in Barbados," the statement continued.
