The obsession of cricket fans can sometimes turn out to be threatening for cricketers and something similar happened with Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw. Accordi ng to reports, eight men have reportedly been arrested by Mumbai police for chasing, attacking, and threatening the Indian cricketer when he didn't oblige for a selfie the second time.
Reportedly, two people approached Shaw for a selfie at the Mansion Club of Sahara Star Hotel in Mumbai. While Shaw obliged once, he refused to take the selfie for the second time. The denial miffed the men who then started pelting stones at his friend's car. Mumbai Police has registered a case against 8 people connected to the incident.
Oshiwara Police have booked eight people under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (143, 148, 149, 384, 437, 504, 506) after the incident.
Talking about Shaw, the Mumbai batter has been on a break from competitive cricket since the New Zealand series. Shaw was added to the T20I squad for a 3-match series against Kiwis at home in January, but the top-order batter did not get an opportunity in the playing XI.
