It is still just a Tuesday but sports lovers are not complaining at all as it has been an entertaining week so far with the Commonwealth Games fever taking over the world. Australia continue to dominate the medals tally but India have also been impressive, especially in weightlifting. Before Day 6 of the Commonwealth Games 2022 on Wednesday, here is a medal and result prediction of a few fixtures and events lined up on the day.
1. Brandon Starc huge medal contender in Men's High Jump final
Australia have one of the strongest-looking athletics contingents at the Commonwealth Games. There is a reason why they are at the top of the medals tally and are set to continue to add medals to their tally. In the men's high jump they have the Gold Coast 2018 champion Brandon Starc in their team and while he did pull himself out of the World Championships just before the CWG, he will give his best to defend his title. Starc finished fifth at the Tokyo Olympics last year.
2. India to beat Barbados in to reach Cricket semifinals
India and Barbados will face off in a virtual quarterfinal in the women's cricket competition. The winner of this game is set to secure a place in the semis. Both the teams have played two matches and won 1 and lost 1 game so far. Although India have a slight advantage of their net run rate as it stands levelled at +1.165 and Barbados' net run rate is -1.794, it will not come to save them if they lose the match. Australia are already assured of a place in the semis having won both their matches while Pakistan are out of the race to final four after losing both their matches. Predicting India to beat Barbados in this match and reach semis from Group A.
3. India will beat Canada in both Men's and Women's Hockey matches
As far as hockey is concerned, both the men's and women's teams will beat Canada in their respective matches on Day 6 of the tournament. The Indian team is coming on the back of some impressive performances and Canada should not pose many difficulties in both the men's and women's fixtures.
4. Evie Richards to win a medal in Women's Cross Country Final, Mountain Bike- Cycling
Mountain bike World Champion Evie Richards is one of the favourites to bag a medal at the Women's Cross Country Final at the Commonwealth Games 2022. She will represent the home team. While she had finished seventh at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics last year, she clinched the gold at the Mountain Bike World Championships, finishing in one hour, 23 minutes and 52 seconds. She is also the first British female cross-country world champion.
