American TV personality Stephen A Smith slammed Golden State Warriors’ Klay Thompson for his recent comments. After their 124-123 loss to the Sacramento Kings, Thompson talked about not paying much attention to the outside noise and criticism about his below-par performance this season. In the match against Sacramento, Thompson recorded just 20 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks.
The 33-year-old recently addressed his critics and said, “I don’t care what people say. It’s like, they don’t do what we do. They can’t do what we do. That’s why they talk. Why would I? Like, come on. I don’t care what people say at this point in my life, ha! Next question.” ESPN's Stephen A. Smith responded to Thompson's comments on ESPN's "First Take".
Smith didn’t hold himself back in being critical of the four-time NBA champion and said, “Maybe you should start caring [about fans’ criticisms of his performances]. How about that Klay [Thompson]? Now, I would challenge anybody on the planet to find a bigger fan of Klay Thompson than me.” He added, “You shouldn't be uttering stuff like that out of your mouth when you playing like hot trash.”
Compared to his stats of last year, Thompson is far away from being his best self, and his performance has taken a hit. In 17 games for the 2023-24 season, Thompson has averaged 15.3 points, 40.4% shooting, including 36.4% from the 3-point range, and 3.6 rebounds per game.
