Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have lost their third consecutive match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, registering a 25-run defeat at the hands of Delhi Capitals (DC) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Batting first after winning the toss, DC batters looked confident and posted a fine total of 183/6 on the board. In the key contest, KL Rahul stepped up for his team and utilised his experience and prowess to help the visitors reach the competitive score. The 32-year-old played an innings of 77 after confronting 51 balls.
DC bowlers pushed CSK on backfoot while defending the total, dismissing the top-order batters Rachin Ravindra, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Devon Conway within the first powerplay. Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja also looked nervous in the crunch situation and threw their wickets cheaply. After Jadeja’s wicket, MS Dhoni went into the middle to support Vijay Shankar. Dhoni along with Shankar batted until the last delivery of the match but couldn’t deliver the victory to his side. Shankar hit an unbeaten 69 off 54 while the 43-year-old amassed an unbeaten 30 off 26. Witnessing the innings of both batters, social media users made fun of them. An X user named Kirat.13_ posted the picture of the CSK dugout featuring Vansh Bedi in slumber and wrote, "Even CSK dug out players are sleeping after watching CSK batting . #IPL2025 #CSKvsDC."
DC lead the points table in IPL 2025 after 25-run win vs CSK
DC’s one-sided triumph over the five-time champions have helped them depose Punjab Kings (PBKS) to earn them the top spot. This was Delhi’s third consecutive win in the competition while Chennai have recorded three losses in a row after kicking off their campaign with a four-wicket win against Mumbai Indians (MI) on March 23.
Punjab Kings (PBKS), who were reigning the table before DC’s win over Chennai, will look to take their bandwagon ahead as they eye to crush Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 18th IPL 2025 match. Punjab are playing their first home game of the season by hosting RR in New Chandigarh. Sanju Samson has returned to Rajasthan’s playing XI as a captain after skipping the initial three matches for his side.
