The Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) Early on Monday, February 5th announced the much awaited scheduled for the 2026 World Cup. The 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico will commence on June 11 with the final set to be played a month later on July 19 in New York.

The 48-team event will see the final being played at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey (New York), FIFA confirmed. While Canada will host a total of 13 games, including 10 group stage fixtures, Mexico will also host 13, with United States hosting the rest of the tournament. Moreover, Toronto, Mexico City and Los Angeles will host the opening matches of their respective national teams.
The decision to host the finale comes after a competitive bidding process with New York edging out Dallas to host the final on July 19. “The #FIFAWorldCup 26 final is headed to New York New Jersey!” FIFA World Cup official handle shared the post on X.
Furthermore, Mexico will become the first nation to stage the World Cup for the third time when Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca will host the opening match of the tournament on June 11. Mexico earlier hosted the FIFA World Cup games in 1970 and 1986 editions. Apart from this, Atlanta and Dallas have been chosen to host the semifinals, while Miami will be the venue for the third-place game.
