Fast bowler Mohammed Shami had a savage response when asked about Team India’s dominant 243-run win over South Africa in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. The Men in Blue extended their undefeated run in the World Cup to eight wins as they sealed the top spot with their recent victory over the Proteas. After posting a 357-run target, India managed to bundle out South Africa at a score of 83.

The result was a shock to many as the South Africans emerged as the best batting lineup in the World Cup so far. Hence while talking about this performance, Mohammed Shami, who picked up 2-18 in four overs, spoke on what the Men in Blue did to a team that has been consistently scoring 400 runs over the recent past.
When asked about the South African team in the post-match show, The veteran fast bowler savagely said, “Har baar 400 paar karne waalon ka haal dekho (Translation: Look at the condition of the team that has been scoring 400 runs often).”

Further, Mohammed Shami also talked about how the Indian bowling attack has been performing as a unit. He shared how the bowlers trust each other which has allowed individuals to rise up and put forth some incredible performance. Shami said, "Even we thought this would be a very good contest.”

“The size of the ground was small. But, the way our bowling unit has been performing. Watching them bowl with so much consistency is a joy. There is trust between each other in the bowling unit and it has reached a point where whoever gets the ball in hand, they are taking wickets. There can't be anything better than this," Shami added.
