Ravichandran Ashwin, the Indian cricketing superstar, made a candid admission about his way of living during an exclusive interview, talking about how he would rather fail than play it safe. The 37-year-old also spoke about not having common insecurities like others, which helps him in exploiting someone else’s insecurities, especially on the cricket field.

Notably, the recently published book of Ravichandran Ashwin by Penguin Random House, named “I Have The Streets: A Kutti Cricket Story,” has been a critical success. The book, co-authored by Sidharth Monga, gives an insight into Ravichandran Ashwin’s life till 2011, and it also provides a glimpse into his mind, which likes to do probability analysis and decoding batters posing a challenge to him.

In his exclusive interview with PTI, Ravichandran Ashwin delved deeper into his life, and said, “I am living my life, that's it. I am not thinking about accomplishing 'A', 'B' or 'C' (targets). I am staying in the moment. I am a creative person in general, and if I feel I want to do something, I will go ahead and do it. (Whether it's) right or wrong, is something that I will assimilate later.”

“I'm not insecure at all. I would rather fail in life than be absolutely safe. That's my character. I don't have the common insecurities that people have,” remarked Ravichandran Ashwin about his character trait.  “Breaking away from my insecurity (as a child) gave me a great insight into how I can exploit somebody else's insecurity. And that's how I see cricket or life in general,” he added.

Ravichandran Ashwin is expected to play a big role for the Indian cricket team once again in the Test format in the next few months. From September 2024 to January 2025, India will be playing 10 Test matches, which will decide whether they reach their third ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final.
