While Australia proved to be the dark horse in the previous edition of the T20 World Cup, this year, the defending champions are the favourite to lift the World Cup once again. Aaron Finch-led Australia defeated New Zealand in the final of T20 World Cup 2021 to clinch their maiden title. With four 50-over World Cup titles, and now 1 T20 title, the Men in Yellow would be eager to fill the closet with another ICC trophy.
At home, Aussies are certainly a force to reckon with. Although Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell’s form has been a concern for the hosts, David Warner and Mitchell Starc’s tremendous form will give them a huge boost.
Apart from the experience players like Aaron Finch, Steve Smith, David Warner, Australia also have some fresh new talent in the form of Tim David who could be the player to watch out for in the tournament. Mitchell Marsh, Adam Zampa and Josh Hazlewood’s experience makes this Aussie side lethal.
