Hobart Hurricanes cricketer Nikhil Chaudhary revealed that he is a Virat Kohli fanboy. The BBL sensation opened up on his love for the Indian cricket icon and has been following him for quite some time. Chaudhary emerged as a finisher for his side Hurricanes in the current season of the Big Bash League and credited Tim David for the art. The Indian-origin cricketer has two fast-paced innings to his name along with three wickets with his leg-spin skills. The Delhi-born Punjab cricketer moved to Brisbane to pursue his career in cricket in 2019.
Before that, he had debuted in Twenty20 cricket for Punjab during the 2016-17 Inter-State Twenty-20 Tournament on January 29, 2017. After shifting to Australia in 2020, he got his first shot in the BBL in 2023, and needless to say, the 27-year-old repaid the faith his franchise has showcased in him. After one of the clashes, the all-rounder revealed that he has been a Virat Kohli fan and has been following him for almost a decade now.
Chaudhary told Hurricanes, "For sure man. I am a big fan of his aggression, and obviously skills. But how good he is a cricketer. I have been totally following him for the last 10 years. And he has been growing and growing.” Notably, Nikhil is the second Indian-born men’s cricketer to have featured in the Australian league after Unmukt Chand.
Speaking about learning the skills from Tim David, he said, "I've been talking to him from last couple of months now, when I signed the contract, he messaged me straight away and he was like, let's do this boy'. It's pretty great learning from him. He's one of the best finishers and hitters in this world right now and his experience speaks for itself; he's been with the Mumbai Indians for the last couple of years."
