The battle between former India opener Virender Sehwag and ex-Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar used to be mouthwatering for cricket buffs during the 2000s but after retiring from the sport, both cricketing icons are now fighting the war of words on social media. Back in 2004, when India toured Pakistan, Sehwag hit the headlines for guiding India to an innings and 52-run win against the hosts, with his magnificent 309-run knock in the Test match played in Multan. With the innings, Sehwag also became the first India batter to notch up a triple century in the longest format of the sport.
Recently, Sehwag shot a commercial for Myntra FWD and took to Instagram to promote the brand along with Sahiba Bali and Mandira Bedi. Posting the picture of him along with both eminent figures, the India former wrote, "Ek triple centurion ke handle se @fwd ka ad post ho raha hai."
Reacting to Sehwag’s post, Shoaib lost his cool and hit back at Sehwag on Instagram. The former speedster posted a video and penned a caption. "@fwd vaalo kisi stylish bande ko lena next ad mein (mere DM open hain). Hahaha," wrote Akhtar. "If you really want an entry, talk to me. Because I have a real record-you know which one, right?," said the 49-year-old in the Instagram clip.
Sehwag is active in IPL 2025 as commentator
Sehwag is a part of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 as a commentator. Along with him, distinguished names such as Shane Watson, Shikhar Dhawan, AB de Villiers, and Mark Boucher are also members of the star-studded commentary panel. Star New Zealand batter Kane Williamson was also seen as expert and commentator in the IPL 2025 opener between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
Williamson will be seen commentating in the distinguished league in the initial matches as the Kiwi stalwart will be joining Karachi Kings (KK) for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025, which will be held from April 11 to May 18, 2025.
