The IPL 2022 mega auction has officially ended and after two days of some intense bidding wars, all the franchises have finally built a squad for the next season. However, unlike the previous mega auctions, there was a bit too much battle which happened between the teams which inflated the final purchase prices of so many players.
However, there was one side primarily who was more or less responsible for this trend which was seen in the auction - Delhi Capitals! The DC owner Kiran Kumar Grandhi had his paddle up for almost every other player and on most occasions, he used to pull out of the race after raising the stocks, preventing the other side from getting a player at a lesser amount.
The fans were quick to observe this and there were lots of reactions on social media, around his strategies and approach during the auction.
While one would saw that it's only an assumption, it is not the case. An actual evidence of the same was caught on camera during the bidding war for left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed. As Delhi were in a battle with Mumbai to secure the signing of player, it looked like DC were just bidding for fun.
In a video shared by somone on social media, DC owner Kiran Kumar Grandhi can be seen talking to his team at the table. If the lip reading is anything to go by, he seemed to have said, "I'm gonna f*** around till 5, presumably suggesting that he will take the price of Khaleel upto Rs 5 crore before backing out.
Unfortunately, his strategy backfired and amid a bit of confusion regarding the bids, the left-arm pacer was sold to Delhi Capitals for Rs 5.25 crore after MI backed out at the last minute instead.

The video has gone viral on internet as fans are enjoying the same, stating that DC owner got a taste of his own medicine. However, despite the drama, Delhi Capitals did manage to form an impressive squad for IPL 2022.
