The Indian cricket team will be travelling to the Caribbean and the United States of America to play in the ninth edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, beginning from June 2 (IST). After winning the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2007, Team India hasn’t replicated their success in the showpiece event of the T20I format, which they will be trying to put right this time around.
India are placed in Group A of the T20 World Cup 2024, alongside the arch-rivals Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and one of the hosts, the United States of America. Following their arrival in the Americas, the Indian cricket team will begin their ICC tournament campaign against Ireland on June 5, at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in East Meadow, New York, the USA.
The biggest clash in the group stages of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will go down between India and Pakistan on June 9, in New York City. These neighbouring countries had an epic contest in the previous edition of the showpiece T20I event, which India won in a last ball thriller against Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
Rohit Sharma will be leading Team India in the upcoming T20 World Cup, despite losing the semi-final of the tournament a couple of years ago. Some of the other Indian players, who are going to be a part of the tournament, will be Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Kuldeep Yadav, among others.
Here is the detailed schedule of the T20 World Cup 2024 campaign of Team India in Group A:
If India manages to become one of the top two teams in the Group A points table of the T20 World Cup 2024, then they will qualify for the Super 8 stage, placed in one of the two groups with four teams each. In case India makes it through the Super 8 stage as one of the top two teams in their group, then they will reach the knockout stage of the ICC tournament.
The knockout stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will involve the semi-finals and the grand finale, which will be played on June 29, at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados.
