After India’s dreadful end to the T20 World Cup 2022 campaign following a 10-wicket loss to England in the semifinals, calls for an overhaul to the Indian T20I setup started. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took cognizance of the matter and has started taking steps in the same regard. While Hardik Pandya is being touted to take over the reins from Rohit Sharma, some young faces will be getting a permanent place in the playing XI.

India played a T20I series against New Zealand right after the T20 World Cup but the squad for the same was picked during the tournament. Therefore, an idea of what the BCCI is thinking about the future of Indian cricket could not be understood. However, now with Sri Lanka touring India for a three-match series and a new selection committee to be appointed soon, some big changes to the Indian T20I setup are expected.

The squad picked will give clarity about what BCCI is thinking and who are the players in the selection committee’s plan for the 2024 T0 World Cup. So, here is a predicted squad for India’s three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka.

KL Rahul

No matter what people say, KL Rahul has got a few good years of T20 cricket left in him and with experience on his side, BCCI would like to keep Rahul in the mix. The opening batter can soak the pressure early on and set a platform for younger players. Rahul has scored 2265 runs in 72 T20Is at an average of 37.75.
