Riyan Parag, the young all-rounder of Rajasthan Royals, has taken a dig at former cricketers and commentators who have criticised his performance in the recently concluded IPL 2023. Fans and critics have heavily trolled the all-rounder for his poor performances in the IPL over the years. Despite failing to impress, Rajasthan Royals have stuck with the youngster and Parag has hit back at his critics in an interview with the franchise.

Rajasthan Royals took a dig at Joy Bhattacharjya as they opened the video with a segment from his chat with Harsha Bhogle on the Royals team combination for a match. While Bhogle said the reason they brought Jason Holder into the side to be their fifth bowler while also batting a bit, Bhattacharjya interrupted saying 'No, 5 batters, 5 bowlers, and Riyan Parag' taking a swipe at the Assam cricketer.

In the video posted by Rajasthan Royals on their official Twitter account, Parag understands fans trolling him, but had a message to ex-cricketers and commentators to share any advice directly rather than sharing them on social media platforms.

Watch the video here:

Parag said, "People pay their hard-earned money to come to watch us perform, not play. So us not performing, them hating. I totally understand. But I think verified accounts, ex-cricketers, commentators when they are posting about this on social media and they're taking out time to tweet about me. You can just text me. I would honestly love that."

The allrounder further mentioned in the interview that he was gutted to miss out on playing against RCB and Mumbai Indians but accepted his fate,  The Assamese has also faced criticism on his social media regarding which he said that it's about his life and not his cricket. Parag specially mentioned Ravichandran Ashwin whom he resonates him and helps him bowl better. Ashwin himself says in the video that Parag is ‘exceptionally skilled’ and it's a matter of time before he comes good.

Despite failing in the IPL, Parag has consistently scored for his domestic side, Assam, and for the list A side. He has scored 1420 runs in 25 FC matches at an average of 32 while also scoring 1308 runs in 38 List A matches. The all-rounder has 49 and 36 wickets in FC and List A circuit respectively. Parag was recently named in the 15-man India 'A' squad for the upcoming ACC Men's Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023, where he will hope to prove his critics wrong.
