Former Indian wrestler and BJP leader Babita Phogat hit back at Olympic bronze medallist Sakshi Malik after the latter’s accusations. Malik had accused Phogat of motivating wrestlers to protest against the former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. She had said that Phogat wanted to be the next WFI Chief and it is why she motivated wrestlers. The comments didn’t sit well with Phogat and she hit back at the wrestler without naming anyone in particular.

Babita took to X, and while she didn’t name anyone, Phogat claimed that the allegations against her were made to increase the sales of her own book. Babita, in Hindi wrote, “Khud ke kirdaar se jagmagaao, udhaar ki roshni kab tak chalegi (Shine with your own characters. How long will the borrowed light last?) Kisi ko Vidhaansabha mila kisi ko mila pad, didi tumko kuch na mila, hum samajh sakte hain tumhara dard. Kitaab bechne ke chakkar mei apna imaan bech gayi. (Someone got a post, some got seats in assembly, but sister you didn’t get anything, and I can understand your pain. In order to sell your book, she sold her integrity.)

They were planning to remove my name from the film: Babita Phogat on Aamir Khan’s Dangal

The former wrestler made shocking revelations about Aamir Khan’s Dangal which was based on the story of Babita Phogat, her wrestler father and wrestler sisters. Phogat revealed that the makers of the movie were planning to remove her name from the movie altogether while adding that she only received INR 1 Crore while the movie earned a whopping INR 2070 Crore. She told News24, “I didn’t get a lot of money. I got very less money. You will be surprised to know, after the entire story was written, they were even having a discussion to remove my name from the film altogether. They wanted to change the character’s name in the film.”

She added, “How much is the 1% of 2000 crore?’ The interviewer replied, ‘Rs 20 crore’. She laughed and asked, ‘And if I ask you the 1% of Rs 20 crore?’ ‘Rs 20 lakh?’, questioned the interviewer. “Well, not so less, but around Rs 1 crore?”
