Indian batter and Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Shreyas Iyer was hot and cold during the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League. Trusted with captaincy, Iyer could not repeat the results of the 14th season, where the franchises ended as runner ups. KKR finished eighth in the points table after winning six out of 14 matches and was knocked out from the league stage of IPL 2022.
However, Iyer will soon don Blue Jersey as he has been included in the five-match T20I series against South Africa. Ahead of his national duties, Iyer has purchased a luxurious Mercedes-AMG G 63 4Matic SUV for INR 2.45 crore. The pictures of Iyer accepting the delivery of his brand new SUV were shared by the prominent dealership of the German carmaker.
The Mercedes-AMG G 63 4 Matic is the top variant of the famous G-Wagon series and is powered by an AMG 4.0-litre V8 Biturbo engine, with an output of 430 kW (585 hp) and a peak torque of 850 Nm. The SUV can reach 0 to 100km/h in just 4.5 seconds of its speed.
While sharing the images on social media, Landmark Cars Mumbai congratulated the dynamic batter for buying a brand new Mercedes-Benz G 63. The caption further stated, "Congratulations to Indian cricketer Mr. Shreyas Iyer for driving home a brand new Mercedes-Benz G 63, the Star that uploads the legacy with unsurpassed off-road and on-road capabilities and a distinctive, timeless design! We welcome you to the Star family and hope you enjoy driving this Star as much as we enjoy watching your cover drives."
Speaking of Iyer's performance in the recently concluded IPL 2022, the KKR skipper amassed 401 runs in 14-games at an average of 30.85, but Iyer maintained an impressive strike rate of 134.56. Shreyas Iyer's 85 against runner-up Rajasthan Royals was the highest score of the skipper in the edition.
Iyer came into the tournament after delivering an outstanding performance in India's bilateral series against Sri Lanka. Iyer scored 203 runs in three T20I and was rewarded with two Players of the Match in the series and Players of the Series. Iyer's performance in the upcoming bilateral series will be crucial for the team, and he is regarded as a probable prospect to be part of India's squad in the upcoming T20I World Cup 2022.
