India star batter Virat Kohli, who will be seen in action for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) from March 22 onwards in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, has discussed his future after his international cricketing career at the RCB Innovation Lab. He also discussed cricket’s inclusion in the Olympics and the evolution of women’s cricket. Kohli will be participating in the league after making a crucial contribution to India’s Champions Trophy 2025 victory. In the mega ICC event, he also became the third ODI batter to surpass 14000 ODI runs and joined the elite list of batters Kumar Sangakkara and Sachin Tendulkar, who have attained the 14000-run milestone in the 50-over format.
As per a report from PTI, Kohli talked about his miserable period with his bat during India’s Australia tour that happened from November 2024 to January 2025. In the conversation, India batting legend also indicated he might not be part of Team India that will travel for the assignments down under in the future. He also exuded confidence in Team India for the Olympics at Los Angeles in 2028.
"I actually don't know what I will be doing post-retirement. Recently, I asked a teammate the same question and got the same reply. Yeah, but maybe a lot of travelling," said Kohli on travelling for Team India to Australia in the future. "Cricket being part of the Olympics is a great chance for us. Coming back with a medal will be a great thing for the team," remarked the 36-year-old on India’s chances in the Olympics 2028. "WPL is going to grow, and you cannot cater only to men's sport if you want to grow as a sporting nation," Kohli on women’s cricket.
Kohli will look to have a scintillating show in IPL 2025
Kohli will be essential for RCB in IPL 2025. In the previous season, he scored the most runs for the team and became the Orange Cap winner. His magnificent batting also helped him to become the only India batter to win the iconic Orange Cap twice in the league.
RCB haven’t won any IPL title despite appearing in 17 editions. Kohli, who has been part of the Bengaluru-based team since the first IPL installment, will be expected to have a blast with his bat. Back in 2016, he notched up 973 runs in 16 matches and helped RCB put up their best IPL performance. This year, he will look to replicate his 2016 performance to make RCB the IPL champions for the first time.
