Mitchell Marsh, the Australian T20I captain, has re-signed with Perth Scorchers on a three-year deal to continue to be a part of the team in the Big Bash League (BBL). The 33-year-old all-rounder had his previous contract with Perth Scorchers run out at the conclusion of the last season of the BBL, and he wasn’t a part of their 10 pre-signed players before the player movement window, creating rumours about him potentially leaving the Western Australia-based franchise.

As per the report from ESPNcricinfo, Mitchell Marsh was given a bit of time by the Perth Scorchers management about his future in the sport after he was dropped from the Test team of Australia in January. While George Bailey hasn’t told the all-rounder about him not getting considered for the Test side, Mitchell Marsh has still made the decision to be a part of Perth Scorchers for the next three years.

Being a one-club player was a big part of my decision: Marsh on re-signing with Scorchers

In his latest interview after re-signing with his only BBL franchise, Mitchell Marsh was quoted as saying, “I'm really proud to sign on with the Scorchers, a team that I've played with since I was a kid, and a franchise that has looked after me incredibly well.. Being a one-club player was a big part of my decision, which was obviously quite an easy decision.”

The Aussie also spoke about how he is proud of being a part of Perth Scorchers throughout his BBL career, underscoring the importance of being a one-club player. He remarked, “I think with the landscape of cricket these days, a lot of us play for a lot of different teams around the world and the idea of always coming home and playing for the Scorchers and hopefully finishing my career as a one-club player will be something I'm really proud of in years to come.”

"A lot of the guys in this team are not only mates on the field but also some of my best friends in life - Joel Paris, who's coming back across, was a groomsman at my wedding. Playing alongside your best mates is always a special experience,” said Mitchell Marsh about his time with Perth Scorchers in the BBL.
