The Men in Blue will take on ODI World Cup 2023 semifinalists, South Africa in the rainbow nation, starting December 26. While the side will boast the return of skipper Rohit Sharma at the helm, along with Virat Kohli; star Indian pacer Mohammad Shami’s return looks gloomy.

The 33-year-old, who was named in the 16-member squad for the two-match Test series, his return was on subject to fitness. The cricketer is nursing an ankle injury and will not be travelling to South Africa with the rest of the players in the squad, Cricbuzz reported. This update comes just a day ahead of the last batch’s departure.
The last batch of players including skipper Rohit Sharma are scheduled to fly for Johannesburg on Friday, December 15. Apart from Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, R Ashwin, Navdeep Saini will fly for South Africa via Dubai.
