Former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan made headlines for his fiery knock in the Big Cricket League. Playing for Northern Challengers in a match against UP Brij Stars at Lalabhai Contractor Stadium in Surat, Dhawan top scored with 119(63) runs. Along with him, Samiullah Shinwari also scored an unbeaten 111*(46) runs as Northern Challengers posted a mammoth 271/2 in their 20 overs. In reply, UP Brij Stars could reach 219/6 as Northern Challengers won the match by 52 runs.
Batting first, Northern Challengers got a fiery start as Shikhar Dhawan and Samiullah Shinwari put up an opening partnership of 206 runs in 16.2 overs. Dhawan was the first to complete his hundred as the left-hander took just 49 balls to reach the triple figures. Dhawan smashed 14 fours and five sixes during his knock of 119 runs off 63 balls.

Along with Shikhar Dhawan, Samiullah Shinwari also smashed a fiery hundred and remained unbeaten on 111 runs off 46 balls smashing seven fours and 11 sixes. After that, Gurkeerat Man Singh also gave a cameo with his quickfire 31(10) runs smashing six fours and a maximum as Northern Challengers went past 270 runs. Ishwar Pandey and Salil Yadav were the only wicket-takers for UP Brij Stars.
Chasing the winning target, Hamilton Masakadza gave a flying start to UP Brij Stars and got out after scoring 72(35) runs with nine fours and five sixes. After that Chirag Gandhi (62 off 34) and Asghar Afghan (41 off 26) put up a partnership of 98 runs for the third wicket. Despite a fiery batting, UP Brij Stars still fell short of 52 runs off Northern Challengers’ mammoth total and were restricted to 219/6. For the Challengers, Siddarth Kaul took two wickets, while Anureet Singh, Prakash Naskar, Kundan Kumar and Bipul Sharma scalped a wicket each.
