The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup will return to India after a wait of 12 years, and as per the latest development, the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Stadium in Mullanpur is reportedly set to host the final of the tournament. The 2025 edition of the highly prestigious women’s tournament is slated to be played in India from September 29 to October 26, with cities like Visakhapatnam, Thiruvananthapurum, Raipur, and Indore also expected to host the matches.

According to the report in ESPNcricinfo, the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup will have five venues with only the venue in Visakhapatnam being a host to women’s international matches in the past. The ACA-VDCA Stadium welcomed the women’s cricketer for an international match last time in 2014, but over the course of its history, this venue has seen five women’s ODIs apart from six women’s T20Is.

The city of Indore has had its share of women’s international matches in the past, which were the part of the World Cup, but hosted at the Nehru Stadium, and now, this venue has now been replaced by Holkar Stadium, where only men’s international cricket has been played so far. There were earlier reports around Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati getting matches of the women’s tournament, but now, it might not be the case anymore.

Indian women’s cricket team haven’t won the 50-overs World Cup in their history

Moreover, the six out of the eight teams, including the hosts, have already qualified for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, namely Sri Lanka, New Zealand, England, South Africa, and Australia. Two more teams are set to join them after the qualifier tournament gets completed next month in Lahore, but if Pakistan make it, then their matches will be played in either the UAE or Sri Lanka as per the reciprocal agreement between the PCB and the BCCI.

The Indian women’s cricket team haven’t won the 50-overs World Cup in their history despite reaching the final twice, and with that, they will be looking to set the record straight in front of their home fans later this year.
