Th e Pakistan Cricket Board has appointed former national team captain Misbah-ul-Haq as the Head of the technical committee that will advise PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf, regarding all cricket-related matters. Misbah will be joined by fellow Pakistan greats Mohammed Hafeez and Inzaman-ul-Haq in the CTC (Cricket Technical Committee).

The CTC will take part in a myriad of activities like handling the country's 'overall domestic structure, scheduling, playing conditions, the appointment of the national selection committees, the appointment of national team coaches, central and domestic contracts and plans for the development of umpires, referees and curators' as per the Chairman's statement.  Zaka Ashraf also revealed that the CTC will report to the 'Head of the PCB Management Committee' and will have the power to add cricketing experts to the CTC.

The Misbah-led committee's first task will be to take over the functioning of the  Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, which begins next month. The first-class level tournament has been a mainstay in the Pakistani cricketing ecosystem since its first season in 1953. 

Talking about the CTC,  Zaka Ashraf expressed elation with the appointments of some of Pakistan's greatest players.  "I am delighted to welcome Misbah-ul-Haq, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez on board for the betterment of cricket in our country," Ashraf said. "These three former captains possess great cricket knowledge and understand the demands of modern-day cricket."

PCB chairman further added,  "Domestic cricket structure is a pillar of any cricketing nation. We have to make it foolproof and its structure progressive. The presence of Misbah, Inzamam and Hafeez, three of Pakistan's most experienced and decorated cricketers who rose through the domestic ranks, will help us in providing our cricketers the best system to thrive so that we can produce the best cricketers."

Addressing his appointment, Misbah deemed the opportunity as a "great honour" and a "challenging assignment". He further said, "I have no doubt whatsoever that we will be able to make a positive difference by providing recommendations that improve and enhance the state of the game from the grassroots till the very top."
