South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch has an impressive debut in the ongoing Boxing Day Test against Pakistan at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. After taking four wickets with the ball, Bosch also shone with the bat on Test debut, scoring an unbeaten 81*(93) runs as South Africa posted 301 in reply to Pakistan’s 211 runs in the first innings. With this, the 30-year-old also broke multiple records on his Test debut for the Proteas.
Batting at number nine, Corbin Bosch remained unbeaten on 81 runs off 93 balls, hitting 15 fours. With this, he became the highest scorer on debut for South Africa while batting at number nine in a Test match. Bosch is now also the first Proteas cricketer to take four wickets, and score a half century on Test debut. He also completed his half-century in 46 balls, scoring the second-fastest fifty for South Africa on Test debut.
Babar Azam scores Test fifty after two years
Talking about the match, South Africa were bowled out for 301 runs taking a lead of 90 runs in the first innings against Pakistan. Aiden Markram was top scorer for the Proteas with 89(144) runs hitting 15 boundaries. For Pakistan, Khurram Shazad and Naseem Shah took three scalps each, Aamir Jamal took two, while Mohammad Abbas and Saim Ayub scalped a wicket each. After that, Babar Azam got his form back in red-ball cricket, and scored a Test half-century for the first time since December 2022.
Coming to bat in the second innings, skipper Shan Masood (28 off 47) and Saim Ayub (27 off 36) added 49 runs for the first wicket. After that, Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel put up a partnership of 79 runs for the fourth wicket. Babar got out after scoring 50 runs in 85 balls with nine boundaries.
