With India touring Australia for the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy next month, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is also set to announce the India A squad for the upcoming tour. According to ESPNcricinfo, Ruturaj Gaikwad is set to lead the India A, and joining him will be the likes of Abhimanyu Easwaran and Sai Sudharsan.
There have reports making rounds that Rohit Sharma is set to miss one of the first two matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for personal reasons and thus India will look to take an opening batting option with its India A squad.
Ishan Kishan likely to return in Indian setup with India A’s tour of Australia
Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan, who was dropped from Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)’s central contract list due to concerns over prioritising Indian Premier League (IPL) over domestic cricket, is likely to make his return to the India A team. As per the developments reported by PTI, Ishan Kishan might make his return in the upcoming tour.
Ishan Kishan, who was is leading Jharkhand on his return to domestic cricket this season, is set to feature in two four-day 'Tests' against Australia A, as well as an intra-squad match with the senior team. The two Tests against Australia A will be held at McKay from October 31-November 3 and then at MCG from November 7-10. While BCCI is yet to announce the squad, one among Ruturaj Gaikwad or Abhimanyu Easwaran is expected to lead the side, a report quoting PTI informed.
