Playing in Delhi, Sri Lanka had a slow start with the bat by losing their first wicket in the first over. Bangladeshi bowlers were on top in the early phase of the game as picked up two more wickets at the end of the powerplay. From this point forward,  Sadeera Samarawickrama and Charith Asalanka, build a solid partnership of 53 runs. As  Samarawickrama got out, we saw the biggest highlight of the game as veteran batter Angelo Mathews became the first batter in international cricket to be timed out.

The decision did cause a lot of controversy which sort of liberated the Lankans as  Asalanka took control and scored runs all around the park. The left-hander completed a stunning  108 in 105 balls and helped the Lankans post a decent 280-run total. Like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh also had a slow start with the openers getting out at 41.

Here stepped in  Shakib Al Hasan and  Najmul Hossain Shanto and posted a massive 169-run stand which cleared away any built-up pressure. Breaking this deadlock for the Lankans, Angelo Mathews dismissed both these batters in back-to-back overs. But with very little left to chase, Bangladesh managed to get over the finish line despite losing three more wickets and helped register a three-wicket win.
