San Antonio Spurs on Saturday (29 October) announced that they have decided to waive off Josh Primo. There was not much said about the team’s decision to release their 12th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Spurs only said that the decision was taken considering the interest of both parties in the long run. Meanwhile, Primo cited mental health reasons for his decision to part ways with the NBA side.

But these explanations did not quite add up leaving the door open for speculations. And now reports have emerged that the actual reason behind Primo’s departure was his inappropriate behaviour towards women. It has been reported that the 19-year-old exposed himself to one of the former female employees at Spurs.

ESPN reported that Spurs released the talented youngster post multiple allegations of inappropriate behaviour. “The San Antonio Spurs' release of guard Joshua Primo -- the No. 12 pick in the 2021 NBA draft -- stemmed from multiple alleged instances of him exposing himself to women, sources told ESPN on Saturday,” stated the report by ESPN.

Meanwhile, Shams Charania of The Athletic claimed that a former Spurs employee is one of Primo’s accusers.  “A former Spurs female employee has alleged that guard Josh Primo exposed himself to her, and she has hired attorney Tony Buzbee. Buzbee represented the women in the sexual misconduct lawsuits against NFL QB Deshaun Watson,” tweeted Charania.

ESPN put validation to this claim by stating in their report, “Also on Saturday, attorney Tony Buzbee told ESPN he has been retained by a woman who worked for the Spurs and has alleged Primo exposed himself to her.”

Meanwhile, Primo said that he will take this time to focus on his mental health. "I know that you all are surprised by today's announcement," Primo said in the statement. "I've been seeking help to deal with previous trauma I suffered and will now take this time to focus on my mental health treatment more fully. I hope to be able to discuss these issues in the future so I can help others who have suffered in a similar way. I appreciate privacy at this time."
