Lucknow Super Giants uncapped star Mayank Yadav credited LSG captain KL Rahul for guiding him early in his IPL career. The 21-year-old burst onto the scene with a blistering debut against the Punjab Kings where he picked up three wickets to turn the game and help LSG register a 21-run victory. In his four-over burst, Yadav consistently clocked up speeds of over 140 Kph and shocked everyone.
But it hasn't been all smooth sailing for Yadav as he suffered an injury in LSG's first practice match of the 2023 season which ruled him out of the season. Speaking about this time and his interactions with KL Rahul, the Delhi youngster spoke about how the Indian wicketkeeper-batter always answered his queries and gave him great advice.
KL Rahul helped me a lot in early stage of my career: Yadav
Speaking in the Second Innings Podcast hosted by former India u19 star Manjot Karla, Yadav said, "KL Rahul helped me a lot in early stage of my career when I used to ask him 1 question, he answer quickly & tells me to ask 10 more, advised me to focus more on line & length as I already have the speed which makes me more better."
He bowled 155 tonight and made life uncomfortable: Morne Morkel
Coming back to Mayank Yadav's debut, LSG bowling coach Morne Morkel was extremely elated with the 21-year-old's performance. Speaking in the post-match interview, Morkel said, " Young Mayank Yadav bowled with serious heat and got wickets. Very happy for him. He got injured in the first warm-up game last season and got ruled out so had to manage him better this time."
"He bowled 155 tonight and made life uncomfortable. He ran in and that was the pleasing thing for all of us. It was a good wicket and for him to stick to that hard length - that's his strength - in this humidity in your first game in front of a big crowd, credit to him. Happy with 2 points tonight," he continued.
