In the main event of UFC 293, the American MMA fighter Sean Strickland shocked Israel Adesanya to become the new UFC Middleweight champion at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia. On September 10, Sunday, the 32-year-old displayed one of his best performances, if not the best, inside the octagon against his Nigerian-New Zealander opponent, to defeat him by a unanimous decision in a title match.

While these two fighters began the first round for the UFC Middleweight Championship bout in a watchful manner, trying to suss out each other, before Sean Strickland exploded with a cracking right cross, stunning Israel Adesanya in the process. It led to a barrage of jabs from the American, but he couldn’t manage to knock out his opponent as the buzzer came off to bring the first round to an end.

The next four rounds in the title match were quite close, but Sean Strickland looked a step or two ahead of his opponent in Israel Adesanya, utilising his solid defence with purposeful forward moves to his advantage. The three judges scored the contest 49-46 in favour of the American MMA fighter, to declare him the winner in front of a rowdy crowd in Sydney, Australia.
Meanwhile, in the co-main event of UFC 293 at the Qudos Bank Arena, Alexander Volkov defeated Tai Tuivasa by the Ezekiel choke submission at 4:37 in round two. Some of the other prominent fights on the card saw Manel Kape defeating Felipe dos Santos by unanimous decision, while Justin Tafa knocked out Austen Lane with brutal strikes at 1:22 of the very first round.
