Legendary Indian batter Virat Kohli met Australian batter Sam Konstas’ brothers before the final Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Notably, after the conclusion of the fourth Test, the Indian team and the Australian team visited the residence of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Wednesday, January 1. India lost the fourth Test by 185 runs and are currently leading the series 2-1. The fifth and final Test of the series is set to begin on January 3 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Two days before the match, both the teams were hosted by the Australian Prime Minister at his residence. During the meet and greet, Kohli also met the brothers of his latest nemesis, Sam Konstas. Kohli also posed with them, and the picture has been doing rounds on social media ever since uploaded. Notably, the Indian batter engaged in a feud with the 19-year-old cricketer in the fourth Test of the series.
Virat Kohli-Sam Konstas’ fight in Melbourne Test Match
Notably, on Day 1 of the Melbourne Test match, a moment occurred in the game as Konstas displayed dominance over Jasprit Bumrah. However, what came as a surprise to everyone was that Virat Kohli collided his shoulder with the batting prodigy. This incident took place at the end of the 10th over of the opening session, as Konstas was making his way through to the opposite end of the crease. The Indian batter approached Konstas and initiated the shoulder bump.
The incident led to heated argument between both the players, and it was diffused by Australian opener Usman Khawaja and the on-field umpire. The Indian batter was penalised with a 20 percent deduction in his match fees and also received one demerit point for violating the ICC’s Code of Conduct. Not only this, but the youngster was also involved in an altercation with Indian ace Jasprit Bumrah.
