Former Australian skipper Michael Clarke has his say on the shoulder incident between Virat Kohli and Sam Konstas during the Boxing Day Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground. The 2015 ODi World Cup winning captain said that Kohli is a tough cricketer and also feels that the 36-year-old was getting frustrated due to ‘lack of respect’ for his teammate Jasprit Bumrah. Notably, Kohli hit shoulders against 19-year-old Konstas who made his Australia debut in the 4th Test itself.

Notably, Australia won the Boxing Day Test by 184 runs to take a lead of 2-1 in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy down under. “Virat Kohli is a tough cricketer. He will never take a backward step. I think Virat was frustrated with the lack of respect that Sam was showing towards the best bowler in the world, Jasprit Bumrah. I am sure he would have had a word with Sam after the match. He is not a nasty person,” Michael Clarke was quoted as saying by CricToday.

Aussies have executed their plans against Virat very well: Michael Clarke

Michael Clarke also hailed Pat Cummins and the Australian team for executing their plans very well against Virat Kohli. Notably, Kohli has been struggling to get a big score in the ongoing series after a hundred in the first Test in Perth. In the fourth Test, Kohli was dismissed in a similar ways in both innings of the Melbourne Test by nicking the outside off delivery which ended up getting in the hands of the fielder at slip.

"I think Australia bowled well with a disciplined plan, and they have executed it. I think Virat's the type of player, though, in any format, he really thrives on with bat on ball, and that gives him confidence. He wants to hit the ball. He's never been a big leaver, and there's always been that error outside off stump that a lot of teams have targeted, because he's such a good player," Clarke said.
