Shubman Gill-led Team India is taking on Zimbabwe in the second match of the five-match T20I series at the Harare Sports Club in Harare, Zimbabwe. After the Men in Blue succumbed to a 13-run defeat against the Sikandar Raza-led side on Saturday, July 6, they aimed to put up a competitive total after they won the toss and elected to bat first on Sunday, July 7.

With a change in the decision, it was Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma who opened the inning for India. Although Gill fought hard in the first T20I, he had a forgettable outing on Sunday as he departed after scoring only two runs. But his opening partner, Abhishek Sharma had different plans altogether.

While he reached his maiden half-century off just 33 balls, he reached his maiden ton on the back of hat-trick of sixes. In the 14th over of the India inning, Abhishek Sharma continued his carnage hitting back-to-back sixes off W. Masakadza’s over. Although he kept his celebrations low key, he simply took off his helmet and spread his arms, looking up to the heavens.

The 23-year-old however got out on the very next delivery after completing his century. Sharma, who gave his wicket with Dion Myers completing a catch at backward point, was later acknowledged by his teammate Ruturaj Gaikwad, along with several other players from Zimbabwe.
