MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings became the first team to enter the final of the 2023 edition of Indian Premier League. After being invited to bat first, the side posted 172/7 in the 20 overs, courtesy Ruturaj Gaikwad’s knock of 44-ball 60. However, it seemed a comparatively low total for a side like Gujarat Titans to defend but well-restricted bowling by the CSK helped them seal the game by 15 runs.
With the match looking intense going into the last over, GT needed 27 runs off the final over with one wicket in hand. With pressure on both sides, Pathirana bowled a brilliant delivery with Deepak Chahar running across from mid-air to complete a beautiful catch off the final ball of the inning.
However, the catch might have looked like a brilliant one, in this process, the Indian pacer sustained some injury as he was seen limping off after the catch.
