In the main event of UFC 287 on April 8, the Nigerian-New Zealander fighter Israel Adesanya knocked out the Brazilian Alexsandro Pereira in a stunning fashion during the second round to win back the Middleweight Championship. At the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, Adesanya was able to avenge his three consecutive losses against Pereira, two of which happened over 6 years ago in the Glory of Heroes promotion and the last one occurring at UFC 281 on November 12, 2022.
Just after the fight had finished, Israel Adesanya was recorded on camera, firstly pointing at the son of Alexsandro Pereira and then mocking the kid by falling down in a heap and going to sleep, as a reminder that he had knocked out his father mercilessly at long last. This reaction was in response to the same gesture that the young son of Pereira did to Adesanya after his father had knocked out the fellow MMA fighter in 2017.
The current UFC welterweight contender Belal Muhammad posted the video of this moment on his Instagram account with a caption, “Wow he doesn’t forget he got revenge on his son.”

Meanwhile, the other prominent fights on the UFC 287 card saw Gilbert Burns defeat Jorge Masvidal in the welterweight division by a unanimous decision in the co-main event of the evening. The next time the Ultimate Fight Championship goes on pay-per-view will be on May 6, when Aljamain Sterling takes on Henry Cejudo in the main event of UFC 288 for the Bantamweight Championship from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
