In match 34 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) took on the reigning champion in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. After being invited to bat first, CSK posted 176 runs, courtesy an unbeaten half-century from Ravindra Jadeja and a nine-ball 28* from MS Dhoni.
However, it was the home side who stood apart with skipper KL Rahul and opener Quinton de Kock pulling off an eight-wicket win. However, both openers departed later during the chase, it was Nicholas Pooran, who hit the winning runs to finish the game. Soon after LSG’s fourth win in IPL 2024, it was once again their skipper who won the hearts.
KL, who has sung praises of MS Dhoni time and again, was seen removing his cap as the two sides lined up for the customary handshake post LSG’s win. As MS Dhoni approached Rahul, the keeper-batter was quick to take off his cap as a respectful gesture.

The Indian wicketkeeper-batter, who won the Player of the Match after LSG’s win over CSK, also spoke of what it would look like to play in Chennai now. “Different ball game playing in Chennai. Was playing in front of mini Chennai crowd. We are a young team and happy to play in front of such a crowd,” KL Rahul in the post-match interaction.
The Karnataka-born also heaped praise of MS Dhoni and what it feels like to bowlers in the opposition side. “MSD walked in and the pressure got to the bowlers. He has had the intimidation on opposition bowlers. Our young bowlers were put under pressure with the crowd going berserk as well,” KL added.
