Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday (April 7) registered their first win in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. After Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss, they invited KKR to bat first. The hosts posted 205-run target for the Bangalore-based side to chase in their 20 overs quota, on the back of a match winning-knock by Shardul Thakur.

What was Nitish Rana’s first win as captain in the ongoing tournament, the team celebrated this win which came at their home turf in Kolkata with a much-needed celebration. The KKR players celebrated their victory by singing the team anthem in the dressing room. The team was also joined by their co-owner Shahrukh Khan in the dressing room for this victory celebration.

Talking about KKR’s campaign so far in the competition, the Nitish Rana-led side lost their opening match against Punjab Kings by seven runs in what was a rain-curtailed match. However, they won their second match with the home advantage on their back, they will next face defending champions Gujarat Titans in the first match of Sunday’s (April 9) double-header.
