The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi finally made his much-awaited MLS debut in a game against Mexican club Cruz Azul in Leagues Cup on Friday. The Argentine national scored a winner in the 94th minute to take his team to 2-1 victory in the stoppage time. His goal was celebrated across borders as not only celebrities present inside the stadium took to etch the event but even players from across arenas took down this moment.

His greatness and global recognition was once again proved with some of the greats of the game of tennis and basketball took some time off to watch Messi’s goal on MLS debut. LA Lakers star player LeBron James, Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham and wife Victoria Beckham, TV star Kim Kardashian and tennis legend Serena Williams were a few names in attendance.

In a video going viral and moments captured during Messi’s Inter Miami debut, LeBron James and the Argentina can be seen embracing each other.

The four-time NBA champion also took to social media to share the moments of this gesture, captioning the post, “Welcome brother!!! Always good to see and be in the presence of GREATNESS!!! @leomessi”.

 

LeBron to return for 21st NBA season

The Best Record Breaking Performance awardee at the ESPY events, LeBron confirmed his return for the LA Lakers. During the award night, James confirmed that there is still time left on the clock of his career. With this, James will become the sixth player in NBA history to play his 21st season or beyond, joining Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Garnett, Robert Parish, Kevin Willis and Vince Carter.

“The day I can’t give everything on the floor is the day I’ll be done. Lucky for you guys, that day is not today,” LeBron said.
