One of the most beautiful things about sport is the aspect of nostalgia that sometimes comes out of nowhere. In cricket, it has happened on numerous occasions that a straight drive from a youngster reminds everyone of Sachin Tendulkar or a lethal spin delivery from someone gives Shane Warne vibes. But fans got a very different and unexpected nostalgia during 3rd T20I between West Indies and Pakistan on Thursday.

It all happened during 8th over of the first innings when Shamrah Brooks mistimed his shot off Mohammad Nawaz as the ball went high up in the air. Mohammad Hasnain (who was fielding at long-on) and Iftikhar Ahmed (who was fielding at deep mid-wicket) came running towards the ball and eventually reached at the same time.

As a result, both the players lost their concentration and as Hasnain tried to catch the ball, he looked in two minds and eventually the chance was missed and all he could do was to point a finger towards Iftikhar for the chaos.

Fans were quick to realize that they had seen a similar sequence of events in past. Notably, an exact copy of dropped catch involving the Pakistani duo of Saeed Ajmal and Shoaib Malik happened way back in 2008. Coincidentally, the opposition team at that time was also West Indies when the hilarious incident happened 13 years back.

While it wasn't the kind of history that Pakistan would have loved to recreate, it was a brilliant sight for the fans as they flooded social media with hilarious tweets and memes around the incident. Unfortunately for the two players, they had a disappointing outing with the ball as well as Hasnain conceded 49 runs in 4 overs while Iftikhar went for 15 runs in the only over he bowled.
