Sri Lanka is hosting Afghanistan in the one-off Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. The hosts on Day 1 won the toss and opted to bowl first, dismantling the Hazmatullah Shahidi-led side for the score of 198 with Rahmat being the highest run-getter with his knock of 91 off 139 deliveries.

The hosts ended the day in total control, scoring 80-run in just 14 overs and continued their momentum on Day 2. However, they added 97 runs with the fall of three wickets in the morning session, the match saw an invited guests take in the field in the second session on Day 2 on the one-off Test.
The incident unfolded in the 48th over of the Sri Lanka inning when a monitor lizard entered the field of play on Day 2 of the only Test. With Angelo Mathews nearing his half-century, Nijat Masood was re-introduced into the attack to bowl the 48th over. Soon after the second delivery, the officials spotted a monitor lizard, who walked into the field, halting the play for several minute before moving out minutes later.

At the end of second session, Sri Lanka were in commanding position with Dinesh Chandimal (68) and Angelo Mathews (79) in the middle and the Lankans with 89-run lead.
