Star Australian batter Travis Head sent a wave of nostalgia and reminded Indian fans of one of the most heartbreaking days in Indian cricket history with his practice session. Head, who was away from international cricket for more than two months, took on the crease during the Baggy Greens’ practice session at the WACA. Notably, India and Australia are set to lock horns for the elite five-match Test contest, Border Gavaskar Trophy. The first match of the series will be played on November 22, in Perth.

Ahead of the series opener, Head took on the crease for an hour as the Australian side attended the nets. In a video going viral on social media, Head was at his aggressive best, like he was exactly a year ago when India lost the ODI World Cup 2023 final. The southpaw smashed 137 runs off 120 balls with a combination of 15 boundaries and four maximums to guide the side to their sixth ODI World Cup.

I want to pick Rohit Sharma and bring in Australian team: Head

When the Australian opener was asked to pick one name from the Indian team that he could bring in his side, he named Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. Head told Fox Cricket, 'I want to pick Rohit Sharma & bring in the Australian team, if I get the chance to pick one Indian player. He is an aggressive player & I love aggressive blokes, who dominate at the top.” Not only this, but he also backed the Indian skipper’s decision to miss the BGT opener to be with his family.

He said, 'I 100 percent support his decision. I would do the same thing in same situation. We sacrifice a lot of things as cricketers, we do live a very privileged life and get looked after but on the flip side we do miss some important milestones. I would've done the same thing if I was in that position. He has made the right call.”
