Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Indian opening batter, has written a letter to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), asking for the issuance of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for him to play for Goa in the upcoming 2025-26 Indian domestic cricket season. After making his intentions clear about wanting to grab the leadership role offered to him by Goa, the 23-year-old has stated that it was tough for him to leave Mumbai apart from reiterating about whatever he has become today, happened due to the city.

Notably, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who hails from Suriyawan in Uttar Pradesh, moved to the city of Mumbai in Maharashtra at the age of 11 for making a career out of cricket, and he has done that with flying colours. But now, after reaching the highest level of the sport while playing for Mumbai in the Indian domestic cricket, he is looking to pursue a better opportunity with Goa with the involvement of the leadership role.

The city has made me who I am, and all my life, I will be indebted to the MCA: Yashasvi Jaiswal

In an exclusive interview with the Indian Express, Yashasvi Jaiswal was quoted as saying, “It was a very tough decision for me. Whatever I am today is because of Mumbai. The city has made me who I am, and all my life, I will be indebted to the MCA.” The left-handed batter last represented Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy earlier this year against Jammu & Kashmir after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had made it compulsory for Indian players to play domestic cricket when there aren’t any international matches happening.

“Goa has thrown me a new opportunity and it has offered me a leadership role. My first goal will be to do well for India and whenever I’m not on national duty, I will be playing for Goa and try to make them go deep into the tournament. This was an (important) opportunity which came my way and I just took it,” remarked Yashasvi Jaiswal about making a move to Goa in Indian domestic cricket.

Moreover, if Yashasvi Jaiswal indeed gets the NOC from Mumbai for a move to Goa, in that case, he will be following the likes of Arjun Tendulkar and Siddhesh Lad, who have made the same switch in recent years.
