On Wednesday, March 27, T Natarajan of the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Luke Wood of the  Mumbai Indians  were ruled out from the eighth Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match. At the toss time, it was revealed that both T Natarajan and Luke Wood had suffered niggles, which led to them getting replaced by Jaydev Unadkat and Kwena Maphaka respectively.

Kwena Maphaka, 17, is one of the youngest debutants in the history of the IPL, gaining prominence in the cricketing world through splendid performances with the ball for South Africa in the recently concluded ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup. On the other side, Jaydev Unadkat is one of the most experienced fast bowlers in the history of the IPL, despite mediocre seasons in the tournament in recent years.

The second change in the playing XI for Sunrisers Hyderabad saw Marco Jansen sit out in favour of Travis Head, who will be making his first appearance in the IPL 2024 today. The left-handed opening batter, who is one of the most fierce strikers of the cricket ball, irrespective of the format, will be looking to make a big first impression on the Orange Army and the tournament as a whole.

Moreover, Sunrisers Hyderabad are hosting Mumbai Indians at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in the city of Hyderabad, in their first home match of the IPL 2024. The captain of MI, Hardik Pandya, won the toss and decided to field first against SRH.

Both SRH and MI have already lost their opening match of the new season in a last-over thriller to KKR and GT on their travels, putting this fixture in keen focus in the early stages of the tournament.
