Joe Root’s brilliant performance with the bat helped England register a dominating win in the second Test. England won the match by 5 wickets with the help of Root’s unbeaten 115 in the final innings. The former England skipper not only helped the side register a win but also saw him become the 14th player in Test cricket to score more than 10,000 runs.

Although England have claimed the three-match Test series 2-0, they have been docked two points from the World Test Championship and are also fined for maintaining slow over-rate in the second Test against England.

After this win, England are at the eighth place with 40 points and New Zealand are above them with 28 points. Notably, these points are after both the nations have played 4 series in the ongoing WTC cycle.

Meanwhile, Australia are placed at the top as they have a 72 points, followed by South Africa who have 65 points.
