Pakistan cricket team were dealt with a major blow on Saturday as their star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi was ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup with an injury. The 22-year-old has sustained a knee injury and thus has been ruled out of the continental tournament as well as the upcoming bilateral series against England. Now, as the left-arm quick stands out of the squad, the management is busy finding a replacement for the pacer.

The Pakistan cricket team fans are also helping the management by chipping in with suggestions and the top name on their list is Mohammad Amir. The left-arm pacer who has been long out of the team and has also announced his retirement from international cricket is fans' hot favorite. Hundreds of users started typing Amir's name on Twitter as Afridi's replacement and this led to his name in top trending searches. However, the 30-year-old was not so much aware of it as he shared a tweet on Sunday.

Amir asked why his name is trending on the social media platform. “M trending on twitter but why,” wrote the former Pakistan cricketer.

Notably, Afridi has been Pakistan's top bowler in the past few months. He was also the main man in Pakistan's first-ever victory over India in a World Cup game. On the back of Afridi's fiery spell, Pakistan restricted India to a paltry total and then chased it down with sheer ease. Now, as the two teams are readying themselves to take on each other in the Asia Cup 2022, Pakistan will be missing the services of Afridi.

Meanwhile, Amir's name is being tossed up because he also did a similar thing at the 2017 Champions Trophy Final. Amir had dismissed Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma which had completely changed the fate of the match. Although the cricketer has announced his retirement, Amir had hinted at a comeback in June 2021.
